The trades in which a veteran is traded for one very promising prospect tend to be very successful.
Nieuwendyk was (basically) traded for Iginla.
Brassard was (basically) traded for Zibanejad.
Erat was traded for Forsberg.
Pacioretty was traded for Suzuki.
Giroux was basically traded for Tippett.
I'm not opposed to this kind of trade - even if they are risky. And it should be noted that for most of these trades, the team sending the prospect also added a pick or another minor piece.
