That's the entire point, selling high on Markstrom knowing full well he's not a long term solution for the Flames. Plus the biggest selling point to Markstrom waiving is how many of the core will be leaving this season. I think anybody with any half decent brain would see that even in a retool that the next two seasons are a washout for any sort of cup run fantasy.
If Marky wants a chance to go on a run it's gonna be elsewhere for the duration of his contract.
Saros isn't even guaranteed to be traded. I suppose neither are, but the best chance would be Markstrom.
