We still need defenceman for next season, even if we don't trade Hanifin and Tanev they would have to be signed. Kylington needs a contract, and I don't think we have anyone from the minors to graduate as a fulltime player yet.

Sure, do you pay Brodie 8 million for one year? 10 million? Because there is going to be about 17 million to pay 2-3 dmen next year. How much do you have to overpay Brodie in order to make moving Markstrom be a financial necessity? That was the original point. I have no problem signing Brodie to a one year deal at 4 million. Hell I do not have a problem signing him to a one year deal at 8 million outside the fact that even with 50% retention it makes him almost impossible to move. It is the owners money, they can do what they want. My only point was that the Flames do not need the cap space that a Markstrom move would provide.
