Every name on that list outside Skjei; Hanifin, Forsling and Montour any number above 4 would be a massive overpay. The likelihood that any of those 4 dmen would take one year at 9 million over a 7 year contract at 50 million is almost zero. Bottom line is that even if the Flames wanted to do that strategy there are almost no dmen they could do it with, let alone multiple guys willing to do it.

Instead of going the UFA route, I'm hoping the Flames will do a reverse-Monahan by taking another team's cap dump D with one year remaining on their contract. Trade them at next year's TDL.
