There is a very low probability that a dman that is worth 5-6 million dollars would sign with the Flames. I suppose they could massively overpay for ####s and giggles but that seems like a bad strategy.
Dmen that could possibly realistically command that or more (I will just leave out the almost zero chance most of these dmen would sign for 1-2 years)

Every name on that list outside Skjei; Hanifin, Forsling and Montour any number above 4 would be a massive overpay. The likelihood that any of those 4 dmen would take one year at 9 million over a 7 year contract at 50 million is almost zero. Bottom line is that even if the Flames wanted to do that strategy there are almost no dmen they could do it with, let alone multiple guys willing to do it.
