Also this is a bit of an unsubstantiated rumour but I did hear that the Flames did have a suitor for Lucic with a 1st attached (think it might have been Anaheim) but Sutter preferred to keep Lucic over Monahan and others didn't love moving Lucic + 1st to a division rival...so went the Monahan to Montreal route instead.

There was some smoke Lucic was headed back to Boston but then it fell apart over cap space. I don't really buy the Sutter making roster decisions thing. Sounds like excuse making for Tre
I feel like those conditions were more Tre dictating them anything. If Montreal was dictating them the Florida 1st probably would not have been in play at all. It was set up in a way that if the Flames fell flat then there was protection.
Too bad the walkway point wasn't over including Florida's pick lol.
