But I'll never understand the complex conditions that he let Montreal dictate...should have just sent them the Florida pick regardless of when they received it and been done with it.

Also this is a bit of an unsubstantiated rumour but I did hear that the Flames did have a suitor for Lucic with a 1st attached (think it might have been Anaheim) but Sutter preferred to keep Lucic over Monahan and others didn't love moving Lucic + 1st to a division rival...so went the Monahan to Montreal route instead.
