Atlanta and Winnipeg made a deal just before midnight Wednesday.

To Winnipeg:

Shane Doan
Mathieu Dandenault
2008 3rd to be sent by June 1, 2008

To Atlanta:

Andrew Brunette
Jim Vandermeer
2008 2nd Calgary

"Shane is a good player and we thank him for his time here but we are thrilled that Andrew is coming to play for the Thrashers. He had a remarkable NHL season last year and feel his ratings will alow us to play him on our 2nd line. Also this deal saves us alot of cap room which is key for us. Jim gives us a 3rd pairing defenseman and can replace Mathieu who was playing that same role for us. We just didn't think he was that piece we needed here for that pricetag but we wish him all the best in Winnipeg with the minutes he gets. The 2nd round pick will help us in either a future trade or to select someone with it. I think both teams got good players in this deal today and I thank Mike for the quick talks."
