Flames can’t let things linger with their players or their team. Conroy has been exceedingly patient, but if it’s gotten to the point where respected players are beginning to become frustrated then his patience should be at an end. The organization needs to continue to build a reputation of being a players-first organization.
…Tanev becoming an Oiler would be a heck of a weird pill to swallow. Flames would need to make sure they hit a home-run with their pick.

I don't think that being a player-first helps the Flames in any way. A team like EDM doesn't have a great reputation, but players want to come there because they're winning. In Vegas everyone is replaceable, players still want to come there. In Toronto Roboda's island is looming if you don't perform, but players still want to be there.
At some point this organization needs to start doing what's best for it, instead of trying to make everyone happy. Everytime the players don't feel like busting their behind for a new coach they get their way. They get incentive to ask for trades publicly because the team tries to appease them at every opportunity. Then having to add a CGY tax whenever a player finally deems them worhty.
Markstrom is a professional and he's under contract. Any player that wants out should simply play lights out, and the rest will take care of itself.
