You would've been correct if you were referring to a time between January 2020and March 2020 and only those 3 months ever. This is because we started getting charged the carbon tax in January 1, 2020 but we didn't get our first rebate until April 2020. However, the April 2020 amount was for April-June 2020 (ie. being refunded for charges yet to happen), as well as an additional amount to correct for the Jan 1 to March 30 amount. This correction only lasted for a year, and in subsequent years post 2021 (ie. 3 full years now), the calculation where you are basically pre-rebated for the entire amount before you started being charged carbon tax holds true.

And fair enough I don't really care whether GST gets charged on carbon tax or not. You can go either way with that - sure the government should just take it out and save me like $10 a year or less. It just doesn't move the needle for me.
