They have to address the G at some point for sure, its been very subpar.
That being said, he/they may be better off in the long run and not have to give up the same amount/quality of assets should they just be patient moving forward.

Even if they could get a better deal this off-season, I think ownership tends to want those playoff dollars. The core is already young, and with Hughes being a bit of a dick already saying they need goaltending puts that in the crosshairs more than anything. Things can turn around in a heartbeat and I'd be willing to bet that there is a push from above to get this done with just negotiating small things over the hump. The chance to go on a long run with a competent goaltender and possible a dman, along with a young team is just too much to pass off, especially when so many in the east are looking shaky. Again, money above all, for a small market it means a lot. That's just my thoughts that they can't wait until off-season where this year a lot can align just right.
