No surprise to how this ended as the Coyotes have now lost 8 straight games. The Hurricanes scored 16 seconds into the game and never looked back. The Coyotes woke up halfway through the 1st period and did manage to out shoot the Hurricanes 31-30. Carolina owned the face off draws, 44-15 and were 4/4 on the PK. Necas had 2 assists and Kochetkov made 30 saves and had a tripping penalty called against him in the victory.

Vejmelka was pulled after the 5th goal and the rookie Villalta took over for the final 13 minutes. The win puts the Hurricanes just 7 points back of 1st place in the eastern conf.
