I would think Mercer has significantly higher value than Zary. They are the same age and Mercer has over 200 games in the league including a 56pt season. Zary is having a great rookie year and shooting at an unsustainable percentage.
Super tough to try and put ourselves in the same shoes as the Devils. They have their top 2 centers locked up and both under 25. They have other good young players on their back end and Holtz but will have to pay some guys soon. If Marky gets them in the playoffs and Dougie comes back they could go on a run and would have Marky for 3 playoff runs which is almost half of the Jack Hughes contract.
