Star 80 a lot of people don't like, and while it's a hard watch based on some of the content, I think it's good. Lenny looks great. Does a lot of the same things in capturing nightlife and cabarets like Cabaret. I think its greatest mistake is casting Hoffman as Lenny Bruce. Valerie Perrine rules in that movie. Sweet Charity is worth checking out if you're a movie musical fan. It flopped because folks were sick of that classic musical genre, which is why Cabaret as a deconstructed musical with all the music being diegetic was pretty revolutionary. But I think it's worth even just watching the 'Hey Big Spender' number on YouTube. All That Jazz is semi autobiographical and based on teh time he was trying finish Lenny in post production and stage Chicago at the same time.
