What you do get is a lot of posters accusing you of making stuff up or being a liar even though there is no logical reason to do so. So why would we share things we hear? I can't speak for the others but for me it's because for the most part I love the community on this board. It leads to discussion and gives everyone things to talk about. Not everything is going to come to fruition we hear.
As far as making these contacts I have been an avid hockey fan for 40 years. When I was younger I spent a lot of my tim with my uncle who worked in the Toronto Sun's sports department and he would take me to hockey events and as I got older his friends in the industry became my friends. Through him growing up as a Flames fan I got to meet all my heroes at one point or another. I am a very social person and in person I have one of those personalities that makes it easy to make contacts and friends. I have been on this board pretty much since day 1 although I think I might have used a different username then. I was on the Flames mailing board before that, I think a guy named Alan Caldwell ran that if I remember correctly. I wonder if he is on here. It's funny because I love ragging on Craig Button on here for his time as GM but that guy would answer every email I sent him during that period and we would get into some pretty amazing arguments! I wish I still had those emails! My point is I have been around it a long time and you meet people and you make friends and acquaintances. I have said before, I am not an insider, I don't do this for a living but if I hear something I will gladly pass it along because I like the community and it adds to discussion on the board. If you choose not to believe me or don't like it that's ok, your perogative. I just don't understand what makes you think someone would claim to know information they don't when there is no reward for doing so.

If you're referring to my specific comment, that seems to have started all the outrage. I was asking an actual question: when have you or Sec reported something that was "imminent". I specifically added that I'm not saying that you don't have insider info.
It could be for multiple reasons, like you potentially not wanting to burn a source. That said I don't expect either of you to report something like a trade ahead of guys like Friedman, which is perfectly fine by me.
As an aside I sometimes have a hard time figuring out if you're stating a source or expressing an opinion. For example you posted this after Dreger reported Brzustewicz was a part of the Lindholm deal.

It could've been your insider info(which turned out to be partial), or you taking a stab in the dark, and speculating like the rest of us.
