Matinee Misery

If this team shows up for an afternoon game, Roy will truly be a miracle worker

Isles never play well in early games do they?

This team not showing up to a matinee game in my lifetime probably has something to do with it

Im pretty certain isles have never won a Saturday matinee. Or beaten the flames. Something's gotta give

I hate matinees

A couple of you have alluded to this. We're playing a 1 PM game at home against a middling team from the west. This is a game that they need to come out fast, establish a lead, and build on it.


The Flames are distracted by all the rumors of player movements. They may say it doesn't affect them, but how can it not? Take it to these guys. This is a very important game.

Never mind a win in a matinee. How about a goal

Simply put, that shot has to be stopped. That goal cannot be allowed by an NHL goaltender, let alone one of Varly's caliber. Puts the team behind the 8 ball just minutes into the game.

There’s no way he could’ve known the puck wasn’t already deep in the zone. He sees markstrom coming out to stop the puck, knows he’s touched up, so he goes back in the zone. Not his fault, just unfortunate

Lou and Isles fans were so determined to add speed to what looked like a painfully slow skating squad that when Engvall appeared, he looked like part of the long term solution.

In reality, he’s exactly what the Leafs knew they had. A soft, contact averse speedy winger with size. A guy that was on a painfully soft team (the Leafs) but was even too soft for them.

Lou took a chance and I suppose the third round pick was not a big deal. The bigger problem is that Lou could not accept his mistake and like he always does, he doubled down and signed a long term deal for a guy who hadn’t proven himself to be a fit for the Isles.

It was obvious they were going to score right after they pointed out they were one of the worst PPG teams

Embarrassing shameful effort today on home ice against a below .500 team allowing more than 3 goals per game. They should rightfully be booed off the ice. They talk about every game being a playoff game. Disgusting. Fans should get a refund for this garbage.

I would feel bad for the fans who paid to watch this, but I went to the 7-0 Pens game. People should feel bad for me.

The players should be embarrassed about the inconsistent efforts they continue to put out this season. Lane or not, it's a huge issue and the constant are the players.

I haven't seen the Patrick Roy Islanders come back from a 3-0 deficit yet

Not happening Calgary is playing sound hockey and taking advantage of every bounce and opportunity. The Islanders can not break their defense. They need to generate on the rush or crash the net. The pretty cross ice passes are not there. It looks like Calgary are playing the defensive dice style that Roy criticized. They also need to move the puck quicker before Calgary can get into their structure. Barzal holds on to the puck and before he moves it they are already back into their structure. Needs to move it faster and get more pucks to the net. It's going to be ugly ones if they are going to get back into the game.

I hope Roy reads them the riot act in between periods. The soft play and standing around in the defensive end is atrocious. A Greyhound performance - lots of passengers.
