And that's the key thing, unlikely any time soon. They've got some interesting prospects but no one that is going to step into a top pairing role any time soon.
I'm fine with either scenario. He's a guy that you can sign and feel confident that it's not going to be a terrible contract because his floor is so high, and his skating will keep him good for a long time.
Or trade him for a nice return.
the good thing is that this is the debate. That there doesn't seem to be a risk of walking him to UFA and losing him for nothing.
