That could be recency bias though. Has he turned some corner or is this a contract year bump. I have always liked Hanifin but viewed him as rather replaceable.
Conroy and company should know him better than anyone. No matter what happens it sure seems like they'd prefer to have him back. Just based on what little info drips out, they're trying much harder with him compared to Lindholm, Tanev or Toffoli.

I think he hit another level in the 2nd half of last season.
Just seeing more of the same this year from the player.
He's a top pairing defenseman in my books, all day long.
