I expect due to how long Hanifin has strung this along that he will end up traded but he just as easily could decide to sign the contract, I am not Hanifin so I have no idea. I do believe he legitimately can't decide, loves the team and the organization, likes Calgary, but is not sure where the team is heading as far as being competitive and he is an American. We know the boarder shutdown during Covid was not easy on guys who couldn't get back across the boarder, I think that scares some guys. Sorry I don't have anything concrete on what direction he is going.

These two points aren't true. Conroy has an answer from Hanifin he's just not releasing it to the public, so there's no scenario where an offer still stands and he's being shopped. A decision is made and I'm hearing he's gone, which makes sense as you'd likely hear rumblings of a signing coming rather than rumblings of a trade.
Also, Conroy has been in involved in talks with teams on a Hanifin trade all season and Hanifin has been kept up to date and given feedback through his agent as he has a NTC. If the right trade was available any point in the past few months, Conroy would have made it, he was not putting himself in a polite corner by giving Hanifin the better part of the season to decide. That makes no sense.
