I would assume that there will probably be a bit more 3pt games as well, pushing the overall line closer to 94-96pts to get in. The final 12 games - starting with the scary (for this team) Blackhawks - are against Western Conference opponents, and then the very last 10 games of the season are strictly against Pacific Division opponents. Teams that are trying to make it are really going to be tightening up.
I do think that the Flames could get in, but they probably can't get in by selling further. Remove Tanev, then your best defensive defencemen is gone, who is also a top-PK defencemen. That may be enough to slow the Flames down to be on the outside looking in. This team doesn't really have depth left - not really anyway. It is admirable how they haven't given up and just started coasting, but removing a couple more pieces on the back-end, what Conroy probably has to do - should be enough to topple them down.
It certainly is interesting how this team still very much believes. It is nice to see.
