There are exceptions of course, but it seems that most of the top goalies in the league are eased into the position after backing up an established #1 goalie for at least a year. Shesterkin and Demko are good examples… they played behind Lundqvist and Markstrom. I think Buffalo may have made a mistake just planning to give the reigns to Levi this year. Would not want to do the same thing with Wolf.
That being said, I think the flames could ease Wolf in next season with either Markstrom or Vladar as the starter to shield Wolf from some tough starts in his first few months.
