And in a way, it makes sense. The old core was rotten, they needed a cultural reset in the room.
Adding personalities like Kuzmenko and Pelletier? No wonder they're having a blast out there since coming back.

Also, look at the guys that have left or been moved out:
-Lindholm (contract cloud hanging over him, poor season)
-Zadorov (distraction in the room and from agent)
-Dube (spectre of 2018 TC following him, really poor season)
-Ruzicka (inconsistent effort, square peg in a fourth line round hole, poor season)
One underrated thing about the trades is that the Flames didn't move out anyone who was really helping the team. Zadorov was having the best season of any of them and he was a #5 Dman. It's been a pretty fine line, but Conroy was able to make some room for players who rewarded him for the opportunity without giving up any players that were performing at a high level.
The guys who have been really good this year: Coleman, Markstrom, Weegar, Kadri, and Sharangovich are still on the team and still playing well.
Who knows what will happen with Hanifin and Tanev... they fit well together and fit well in Huska's system so I am curious if they're looking at this group with the changes and thinking it's a more competitive group?
