Depends upon the circumstances.
If I am a team that is top 5 in the league with a good core of signed top end players and I believe that I am going to seriously compete for the cup for the next 5 years and I need the depth and reliability of Hanifin as my #3 defenseman that I would make that deal.
If I am a team that is competitive but not a serious contender than I would take the younger player.
