Why can't the Flames sign a new Hanifin in 3 years using the cap space from not signing our Hanifin when our (hopefully) competitive window opens?
Now I know it isn't THAT easy, but its not just futures you get. It not having that contract so you can sign another UFA in the future , when your competitive window opens. In the next 4 years lots of good FA's will be avail. We have to be patient and then strike properly.
It's the flexibility to get other players AND assets trading Hanifin provides
I really hope they dont sign him, but understand why they would. I just think it is a mistake. Go all in and do this properly
