Mercer and the Devils 2024 1st for Max retained Markstrom and Tanev?

That's 3 million for the next two seasons on Marky. Is Mercer worth a 3m a year Marky? Is Mercer worth eating 3 million of salary cap over the next two seasons? I think the Flames would think so.
I could argue that the Devils might think so. That stabilizes your next during some prime years of this young core. The 1st for a max retained Tanev fits.

Edit: maybe having Tanev go with him may aid in Markstrom in waiving.
