I know Friedman still mentions the leafs in being interested in Tanev but if it’s true they aren’t willing to give up their first round pick, then I just don’t see a fit.

A couple teams that are loaded up on skilled forwards that could use some big help on defence are Florida and Dallas. I could see both of them targeting Hanifin or Tanev.

Tanev I think could be a great fit for Dallas. The Stars have done some great drafting through the last few years and they are still high up in the standings so their first round pick could be outside the top 25… I could see them stepping up and offering their first round pick for Tanev. They have enough good young players in their system, they can afford to not make a pick in the first round this year.

While Hanifin would be a great fit for Florida, I just don’t see the draft picks left to make the trade. Their first round picks for the next 2-3 drafts are spoken for in other trades. And they don’t have any great prospects to take the place of a first round pick. Lundell is a decent young player but his value is much closer to a second round pick at this point. I don’t think that team can trade any more future first round picks.
