Steinberg was talking about the Tkachuk situation a couple of weeks ago and implied that he was leaving no matter what and the longest he would have signed with the Flames had he agreed to a long term deal and not a bridge would have been 6 years. Once the bridge was signed he knew his ticket out of town was 3-4 years max. While Tkachuk was happy to play here and appreciated it all I am sure but his plan was to always spend his prime in another market in my opinion.
