If you look at the two extremes ...
Low End - he sputters for a year and half and walks for nothing
High End - gets back to where he was and generates a 1st at next year's deadline
... you kind of feel at ease.
The Flames have the cap space to do the trade, they reserve their retention slot to add additional assets, so the low end is fine.
High end is a franchise changing transaction.
Mid case likely a 20 goal season and he's moved for a 2nd and a 3rd.
