2. I think we might be the first team in NHL history to pay a team two 1st round picks (and a conditional 3rd) for the privilege of signing an UNRISTRICTED free agent. Especially when the player we signed has never had anything to do with that team ever (ie. acquiring the negotiation rights a week before FA starts, etc).

All it says to me is that teams are overpaying. The Flames are in sell mode, so that's a huge win. Sell sell sell! Hanifin and Tanev next! Maybe even Mangiapane, Backlund, Markstrom, and Kadri!
