I doubt more than two people here think he was trying to sabotage the Flames before leaving. That’s just dumb.
He was purely incompetent though. Remember, this terrible Monahan trade wasn’t even his worst move. Probably not even top 5 worst moves.
Hamonic trade, Neil signing, Brouwer signing, GG hire, Peters hire, Ward promotion, Tkachuk bridge, letting Johnny get to free agency, Huberdeau contract. All of these could be argued as worse. And I probably forgot some.
Also, as a side note, being consistent in an opinion isn’t a good thing. As you get new information you should be adjusting your previous opinions.
