Sure, the business could pre-emptively put that in a bag like any rational service industry would do. After all, we all know that no one is bringing a bag for this kind of thing. But of course that’s against the bylaw and the customer has to ask. Same for condiments, napkins, utensils.

When I order more than two drinks I ask for a tray. Sometimes I do this right away, sometimes I do this when they try to hand me the third drink without a tray and I realize “right, ####, I need a tray.”
The times I get ketchup in the bag when I don’t ask? Maybe 20%.
But I’m supposed to believe having to ask for something is completely stupid when I’ve ordered too many apple pies. Genius.
