This is definitely a huge domino to fall. I wouldn't hate teams spicing up a normally borish all-star break with some moves.
Friedman suggested the other day that the flames have asked Hanifin to give them a decision on extending when he gets back from the all star break. We could have some clarity (maybe not necessarily a trade) as early as next week if Hanifin’s answer is leaked. My guess is he does not extend and is traded.

If Hanifin is open to a sign-and-trade/agreeing to an extension before being traded, I would think the flames will likely sort out an agreed upon trade from a team wanting to talk an extension with Hanifin before they allow them to talk. For example, if Detroit only wanted to trade for Hanifin if he is willing to sign, the flames would work out a trade with Detroit first before allowing them to talk to Hanifin about an extension. If Hanifin’s discussions don’t go well with Detroit, the deal is scrapped. If they do, the deal is already agreed to and Hanifin is traded and then extended.
