This is the part I struggle with. Everyone saw the statement from the players or their lawyers, and I am sure the Flames management saw them too. Anything but a resounding denial being involved was a warning sign. It was pretty noticeable that Dube's statement, along with the others who are charged, left a lot to be desired. Everyone was hoping beyond hope that he wasn't involved, as I am sure the Flames brass was as well. But this outcome isn't a shock either.
Like I mentioned earlier, I don't know if a contract can be terminated just for suspicion though. Maybe it explains why Dube got buried on the 4th line for most of the season.
