He did only play in one playoff season. So I'm not sure if the on ice contribution measures up although he can't be faulted for a lot of it. I think I still pick Gelinas because to me that's important. I mean Jay Bouwmeester was higher profile and was traded for "assets"...turned out the assets were less useful than toilet paper. But that's not really the players fault that management did that.
The reason he's being moved is because the team is not performing on the ice. He was essentially signed to replace losing Brodie for nothing and arguably replaced what they lost there for a bit less money so that part seems to have worked okay.
I'll be okay if they can get something like what Seattle got for Giordano or Jarnkrok in a trade.
