If there's a viable path to a Goff upgrade they should go for it, but I'm not sure there is.

That's the big thing...which QBs are clear upgrades on Goff:
Mahomes, Jackson, Allen, Stroud, Burrow for sure.
Herbert, Lawrence, Love, Tua are all younger than him and have more potential but haven't really proven to be better in terms of results.
So if you could get one of those guys you'd do it for sure...but you're not getting one of those 9 guys.
You're probably not looking to replace him with an older vet like a Cousins or Rodgers who are likely better now but might not be with them coming off big injuries late in their career.
Dak is probably better...but honestly maybe not that much better and is going to command a way bigger contract likely.
And I'd take Goff over guys like Carr, Wilson, Geno Smith, Jimmy G, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, etc.
Their best move would probably be to go the Packers route and maybe draft a guy that can spend a couple years behind Goff and you hope he can eventually take over but not throw him to the fire right away. (Maybe they do think Hooker is that guy but I think it's unlikley) Could they potentially take a guy like Bo Nix or Michael Penix this year if they fall to their 1st ...wouldn't shock me. Maybe even JJ McCarthy...let him continue to be a Michigan football star.
