I do worry about Conroy’s comments a few weeks ago on the results of the first round drafting from the 2013 draft (Klimchuk and Poirier). He pointed out how they ended up with nothing from the Iginla and Jaybow trades. Makes me think he wants proven prospects (like Lundell) in place of first round picks. I really think the drafting has improved on this team and I think they could do fine getting first round picks instead of making a hard stance on getting a team’s top prospect/young NHLer. Teams are usually very reluctant to trade those guys.
It probably comes from management and ownership wanting the rebuild/retool to be a quick turnaround.
