Story time:
Back in 2014, I went to a game in early December. I was a little early, so I stopped into the Flames' store. They had a nice Flames toque that I liked, so I bought it.
Prior to that game, the Flames had won 8 of their last 10 games. That night, they lost to San Jose. Then, they went on a 4 game road trip and lost every game. Then, they came home and lost two more.
After every loss, I kept wearing that toque because I refused to give in to superstition. Loss after loss, my logical brain said that what I wore had no impact on the outcome of their games. Loss after loss, my superstitious brain said, "yeah, but what if..."
After 7 straight losses, I took that toque and buried it at the back of my closet. That night, the Flames lost to Vancouver in OT, their first point in two weeks. Then, they won their next game, then 3 more to end the calendar year.
I still like that toque, but I don't ever touch it during the hockey season.
What I'm saying is, even if you don't believe in them, sometimes, you have to appease the hockey gods. Kill this thread and re-open E=NG X.
