I just googled the articles and they all have headlines like "Tocchet offers rare critique of Pettersson", or "Tocchet calls for better play from Pettersson", or "Tocchet wants more from Pettersson". Which doesn't seem like in any way a sensationalist overstatement of what he said in the actual quote:

Only Sportsnet has the headline "Tocchet calls out Pettersson". Overall it does not seem like a case of toxic media to me at all.
