I don't know how people are coming to the conclusion that the Flames definitely did something nefarious here.

I posted something similar earlier, although what I don't think is a possibility is #1. Of course the Flames know about a level of involvement (if he is truly involved, I guess technically it's still speculation). I think where things are heating up on the Flames, are on how should they be handling it given they are likely aware this could have been coming, and I actually believe your #2 and #3 are likely correct.
I think when it comes to some of the anger towards the Flames in here, what is being lost is how not straight forward and grey having to handle this actually is. I'm fully aligned with the reasons people want things done a certain way, the intentions behind those asks are the right ones: we need to stand with victims, we need to believe victims, we need to change the culture, and we need to stop rewarding those who abuse their power and people and those people need to be held accountable and punished.
But as an employer they are likely dealing with the following:
- An incident that occurred prior to the individual formally being fully a part of the organization (although I believe he signed his first contract before)
- An incident that did not occur within their organization or technically on their watch (so did not happen to another employee).
- Likely an employee who is still claiming zero wrong doing.............
- And up until today, an employee who hasn't been charged with a crime
None of the above is to excuse anything that has occurred. Merely pointing out from a Flames organization point of view, there are so many many factors influencing how they handle this, many of them legally and of course outside of the legal realm as well.
I'm trying hard to hold my judgement on the Flames until we learn more, see where it goes and what they do moving forward if what we are speculating on the names ends up being valid.
