I don't know how people are coming to the conclusion that the Flames definitely did something nefarious here.

It’s a possibility for sure and one the org should answer for publicly because if the answer is anything other than “we were completely blindsided by this, it goes against everything we knew and were told, and we’re terminating Dillon’s contract immediately” then they’re not much better than the Blackhawks if at all.
