It hasn't been established (even now) that he was one of the specific players being investigated. And if the entire WJC was being looked at, should all of them have been suspended.
Any time an NHL team wants to suspend a player for any reason, you better believe the PA will be taking a hard look at it. That's part of their job. They are there to advocate for the rights of the players.
