Like others have mentioned, he's fine given the circumstances. Sure there is better out there but what's the point going that route with this current roster?



I did have an issue with his lack of challenge on the Oilers offside goal. I know people will argue that it was the video guy who told him not to but in those close situations you have to go with your gut. As a head coach sometimes you need to take matters in to your own hands and gamble rather than rely on others to make the call for you. At least burn a timeout like the Leafs did to get a longer look if you're not confident challenging right away.
My original thoughts when they were interviewing coaches were that they already knew who they were gonna hire. It just came down to price. They might have interviewed other NHL coaches, but they never did intend on hiring them.

They listened to the players and the staff, knew they needed a coach that could have a more positive attitude, and help the young players take that next step.

I truly believe he will coach this team for one more season, then they will move on.

I could be wrong. But nothing about this team screams long term plan.
