Hockey Canada hired Toronto law firm Henein Hutchinson LLP to conduct an independent investigation after they were forced to do so by Parliament. The law firm completed their investigation, but their findings and recommendations are being "appealed" before being released publicly. Hockey Canada won't say who filed the appeal, but I doubt it is the alleged victim. All these players taking time off to deal with "personal issues" tells you that we're not far off from the report being released.
These are some serious, serious, serious allegations. Obviously none of know the details, but there is enough reporting that we know the victim alleges that she was gang raped by eight men, three of whom held her captive with golf clubs as weapons. The text messages in their WhatsApp group have been handed over to the law firm, and that's likely how this whole coverup is going to unravel.
I don't even feel comfortable typing the details, but
this article is worth reading if you want to know more.
The NHL wants nothing to do with this, or any of the players involved. There's not a sponsor in the world that is going to want their product or service associated with a group of gang rapists, should that turn out to be the case.
I'd forget about Dillon Dube playing in the NHL again. The bigger question is if the London Police Service will exist a year from now. Their bungling of this investigation will be very hard to come back from.
