Hockey is a big part of Canadian culture, and unfortunately hockey culture has led to issues not just in the NHL, but among younger kids.
I mean to me that culture is being set at the highest levels, and there has to be some responsibility by the highest level on how they act. Canning a player without reason, making up a bunch of excuses of how terrible he is, then turning around and giving player chance with another team just reeks of old boys club.
Accountability for actions & transparency on what happened are important. When GM of new team basically comes out and says he's not aware of the issues, it makes the NHL look like a bush league.
In similar fashion, there are lots of stories among minor hockey where player / coach would be abusive with teammates or staff, then just go work for another team while everything he did would get buried.
Then a few years later down the road, more allegations and issues arise.
I don't get it.
