I'm not talking Perry specifically, I'm talking players in the future who find themselves on teams falling apart, now a team could conceivably front load a contract they have no intention of honoring, all it requires is the player and the team to agree, I'm thinking of the 'Nucks and Luongo where he wanted out and they wanted to rebuild but his contract made him untradeable.

Plenty of older players would give up a larger contract to transfer over to a cup contender knowing they are on a one year ELC, they can win a cup and then go back to a huge payday
