No he wasn’t.. he was in his third year of pro. That would be like the Flames giving up on Pelletier or Zary, lol. He led his AHL team in goals and point production as a rookie and then torched the league in his brief stint the second time around. He averaged just 11 minutes a game at the NHL level and paced for over 30 points..
He was exactly the type of high upside player you take a swing on. Guys like Podkolzin and your virtanen example struggle(d) to produce at even the AHL level.
