We should be getting a top prospect, 1st, and a cap dump if we retain.
Lindholm is the best player available on the market for a contender, giving him away for 2nd round picks and B prospects will make us look like fools.
Kind of like when Mark Stone was on the market, Vegas was able to put the screws to Ottawa because Stone would only sign with Vegas. I don't think Lindholm has a market yet in free agency to pull that over us.

Then you're going to get disappointed.
Lindholm to Boston got a late 1st, 2 2nds, a B/C prospect, and a cap dump. Horvat got a mid 1st, a B prospect, and an underperforming winger who the Canucks could only get a 5th for.
Bertuzzi got a conditional 1st and a 4th
Chychrun got a 1st and 2 2nds, but he was under team control
Kane got 2 minor-league players, a conditional 2nd, and a 4th
Ekholm got Barrie (cap dump, basically), a B/C prospect, a 1st, and a 4th
Jeannot was very overpaid for and got a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th, and 6/7 blueliner. Still no A prospect, which woudl equal to two 1sts, I think
The Caps got Craig Smith (middle-6 guy), a 1st, a 2nd, and a 3rd for Orlov AND Hathaway
Blues got a 1st, 2nd, a 3rd, a C prospect, and a minor-leaguer for O'Reilly AND Acciari and a C/D prospect
Not a top-tier prospect in sight.
