It honestly would not surprise me if the flames are scared off from drafting some American players after their experiences with Fox, Gaudreau and Tkachuk. I know Gaudreau and Tkachuk didn’t pull the same thing that Fox did but those are 3 American all star players that just did not want to be in Western Canada. And an American college defenseman that is smaller might have to play at least a couple more years in the NCAA past this year… at which point he will be getting close to that tempting decision of playing out his college career and sign anywhere as a UFA.
