I know that a contract can be terminated but was it ever found that there was a need to suspend Perry. If there was no criminal action that was found to take place, under what grounds could they suspend him, for an off the ice infraction. I can't think of many other cases where something of this ilk has happened - maybe Ian Cole with the Lightning. If they did suspend him I am sure that the NHLPA would be up in arms about it.

If the action is bad enough that the only path is termination of the contract, then the action or conduct was serious enough it should result in a suspension.
