There's a cool Speakeasy called Red Headed Stepchild, and it's located behind the Floppy Disk Repair Company. You'll have to look up the code online (reddit) the week you are there. Worth the Google.
Dirty 6th (the bar district) is fun, I'd just recommend going early and leaving early if that's your thing. Find some music, enjoy the vibe, and get out before 11PM.
I was down there 2-3x a year prior to the pandemic, and would eat & drink my way through the town for a week each time. I'd also hit up a liquor store called
Spec's (biggest liquor store I've ever seen) and bring back some very affordable tequila & bourbon in my checked luggage.
